Spring is Here: Act Now to Keep Your Service Live

Spring is here: act now to keep your service live

With the end of winter approaching, Indianola residents who have qualified for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) must also prepare for the end of the protections the program provides from November until April 1. Those customers with an outstanding balance of greater than 60 days (anything prior to the February invoice) will receive a notice of disconnection mid-March, and if that past due balance is not paid before April 1 they will qualify for disconnect on April 4. Once customers are disconnected in our system, the full balance of the account must be paid to restore service, including the April invoice.

What can I do to avoid disconnection?

Start with a call to our office, and we can look at your account and discuss the options. If you are able to pay your full invoice balance or the minimum amount due to avoid disconnect, you can drop off or mail in a payment, pay in our office or over the phone 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday, or pay your invoice on our website.

If you are not able to pay, we may be able to create a pay plan contract to spread the utility invoice balance over 12 months. However, not all accounts or services can qualify for a pay plan contract. Fiber services must be paid in full in order to start a pay plan, and those charges can not be included in the contract. If your balance includes a previously defaulted pay plan, you will not qualify for a second pay plan.

There are also multiple organizations that offer assistance for utility bills.
