In 1973, the citizens of Indianola voted to establish a Board of Trustees to govern the city’s electric and water utilities. In 1997, citizens approved the addition of a telecom utility. Since that time the IMU Board has had autonomous control over the operation, staffing and financial activity of all three utility facilities. Board members may serve for two six-year terms plus any partial term for which they might have been appointed.
The IMU Board meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Customer Service Center.
