Customer Service Corner – 08-22

The IMU Customer Service team answers your questions!

Every day, we get calls about customers’ electric, water, and fiber/communications services – but there’s one question we hear the most: Why is my electric bill (insert number here)?”
Usually, as we look at the customer’s account, we see that the total bill was indeed in that range. But electric is only one component.

Depending on where you live, your monthly IMU bill includes up to six different services – water, sewer, electric, stormwater, recycling, and fiber/communications. Your bill total is the fee for all your services, combined.

Invoice Improvements

You may have noticed some recent improvements to your invoice. You’ll see your current bill clearly itemized, as well as a comparison of your water and electric usage to the year prior. It’s a great feature to help you track any changes to your usage over time.

The bill you receive from IMU is for the prior month’s electric, water, and sewer usage. For example, your September bill is for usage from July 15 to August 15, when you were likely to be using more electricity for cooling.

For questions about your bill or usage, call the IMU Customer Service Center at (515) 961-9444, Option 2, or stop by the office at 210 W 2nd Avenue during regular business hours.
