Monica Thompson, Customer Service Representative and Board Secretary, has worked for IMU since July of 2020. Taking time for customers over the phone and in person, ensuring that their needs are met, Monica always does her best to share her smile with everyone.

Raised in Indianola and fortunate to have raised their own family here as well, Monica and her husband Joe are woven tightly in the fabric of the community. She sees her job as an opportunity to support the citizens, and community as a whole- and she helps customers find solutions to billing concerns to keep the lights on, the water flowing, and the fiber services connected to keep families and their homes safe and comfortable. She takes particular satisfaction in helping customers in need of financial assistance find resources to maintain active services. Calmly directing those in need to organizations who can assist them and discussing the options with compassion and without judgement often takes the sting out of difficult situation.

A true Townie, you can usually find Monica and her extended family at community events. Joining her parents Jim and Rita Fromm at The National Ballon Classic (and other nearby ballooning opportunities), watching parades with her children and grandchildren from her front porch just off The Square, seeking out fun food and drink adventures with her husband, and shopping local first whenever possible, she is happy to invest her time, effort and love in Indianola.
