The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally-funded program designed to assist low income families meet the cost of home heating.

What is LIHEAP?
The LIHEAP program, is designed to aid qualifying low-income Iowa households (homeowners and renters) in the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating season, to encourage regular utility payments, to promote energy awareness and to encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency, LIHEAP customer education, and weatherization.
When can I apply?
Households with a member 60 years of age or older, those who are disabled, and those in crisis can begin applying OCTOBER 1st
All other applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis November 1 – April 30 of each year.
