Technical Support Specialist

Indianola Municipal Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Technical Support Specialist in the Communications Utility Department. This position’s responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: Responds, investigates, and solves Tier 1 and Tier 2 customer support calls and service tickets; Schedules, dispatches and assigns technicians for trouble tickets; Assigns equipment and facilities for scheduled installs; Works with the Communications Superintendent, Senior Network Engineer and Engineer to coordinate and schedule both internal and external projects; Troubleshoot and test the performance of equipment and fiber routes; Maintain equipment logs, generate and file required communication documents and reports; Participates in rotating “On-Call” Duty supporting the communication system and network monitoring; Maintains IMU website and performs updates and maintenance as required.

Experience and training will include: Prior support experience that shows a progressive ability to adapt to changing technologies. One year of work at Tier 1 support level. Ability to plan, establish, and adjust working procedures and methods. Understanding of basic graphic design and website maintenance. Creative problem solving to resolve day-to-day issues. Ability to use electronic devices such as; laptops, pc’s, handhelds, cell phones, etc. Ability to work outside normal business hours to minimize service outage interruptions.

IMU starting salary is $42,503-$47,562 depending on qualifications and an excellent benefits package is included. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening, physical and background check.  A complete job description can be found here.
